What do I mean about this article title? By now you may know of my skeptical opinion when it comes to belief in the paranormal. In my many years of research I have to admit there have been occurrences that make some doubt enter my mind and make me question my own beliefs. The following are a few examples of that.
A plethora of electronic phonetic devices have earned my disdain simply because there is no scientific validation standards employed to their functionality claims, nor data to support them. How do you prove the device can communicate with spirits? Where is your scientific consensus for validation? Nonetheless I obtained and used such devices in an effort to remain objective before making any conclusion as to their effectiveness or accuracy. In one instance, my wife and I were in a cemetery that was an example of a wrong, immoral and embarrassing predjudicial time in U.S. history. The cemetery was one reserved for black people only. It was next to a "whites only" cemetery, separated by a 4 lane highway in Jacksonville, FL. U.S.A. As we walked through the "blacks only" cemetery, observing various headstones and remarking on their conditions of deterioration from being neglected, we started a conversation about how sad the treatment of black people was not only in life but also in death. During this conversation I turned on a phonetic generator and to my surprise it immediately uttered these four words: "that's not for you." This device that typically emits random words triggered by environmental EMF changes, produced no other words or phrases after those four words. It is not usual for the device to speak a short sentence like that. Was it coincidence or something more, something that couldn't be explained? One could be quick to attach a paranormal explanation to this due to the fact that my wife and I are white and perhaps our intent could be misinterpreted as being disrespectful to be there.
Another interesting occurrence was while we were vacationing in a small town in Georgia, U.S.A. There was a historical cemetery nearby. We went without any electronic equipment instead curious as to the notable historical persons interred there and associated dates in history. My wife was walking ahead of me in the same direction approximately 10 yards in front of me when suddenly I freaked out from the feeling of thick and numerous strands like spider webs descending on my head simultaneously. There were no trees or foliage nearby that would support any kind of webs. It is a common paranormal belief that spirits somehow manifest their ethereal presence through this method. I have no logical explanation for what I experienced.
Another time we were taking a tour through the famous Antelope Canyon in Arizona, U.S.A. This is a dangerous slot canyon during rainy season as flash floods have killed several people in it. Mostly, it is dry. This is Navajo territory with many ancient legends of spiritual significance attached to it. Many visitors report having the feeling of a strong spirit presence there. The wind that sometimes whistles through is said to sound like voices of the spirits there at times. As we walked through on our tour, we purposely positioned ourselves to be the last ones in the group. We did this so we could take pictures of the canyon behind us without other people in them. When we got home, one particular photo that my wife took of an area behind us that we had just passed, revealed an anthropomorphic shape peeking from behind the edge of a rock wall. This is shown in the cover photo of this article (zoom into the photo here: https://www.facebook.com/JoeMoonJoey/posts/pfbid02dpQsw5pMXdmS2FkSAc3J5BRjRjmUcENKWLqWiHUbX9JbgsrqYc9s2b27Miw2hbmKl).
No one else was behind us. Again, we were the rear people of the tour. I cannot explain it.
There are a few examples, absent of reason that make me pause and state an inability to explain or attribute a cause. Are they paranormal? Who can say one way or another with certainty. At the very least, such experiences should be held in a database of events whose explanations may someday come to fruition.
